On the 14th December 2016, our two learners, Tlangi Masango and Thato Sebola delivered their end of year presentations in front of their peers and mentors at Santam in Sandton. It’s a pretty nerve wracking process for all the learners with many having to conquer the fear of public speaking before they get into the actual content.
We are very proud of these budding insurance professionals and it has been an absolute pleasure to see them develop over the past year. They’ve both spent time in various departments (Tlangi is currently in the Liability Underwriting area whilst Thato is in the Financial Lines Underwriting team).
The learnership program is very valuable, not just to the learners but also to us as a business. Each year we go through a rigorous selection process to find candidates that fit into our business culture and who have the potential to contribute to SHA. Young, vibrant individuals who may not have had an opportunity or the resources to further their studies after finishing high school, really make up the pool of candidates we choose from.
This year we were extremely fortunate to have had Thato and Tlangi joining our team. As part of their training they spend practical time in the office with different teams as well as time at Santam where they are exposed to the more theoretical side of the insurance industry.
They’ve both done extremely well and we can’t wait to see them grow even further in our industry.
